Kevin Su has won the Orchestra category of the 2016-17 Azusa Pacific University/J. W. Pepper High School Composition Contest for his composition Concert Overture No. 1.

A high school junior at Poolesville High School, in Poolesville MD, and a composition student under Dr. Judah Adashi at Peabody Preparatory of Johns Hopkins University, Mr. Su is also a conductor, a composer and a pianist. As a conductor, Kevin is the founder of the Advanced Orchestra Club at Poolesville High school, which successfully performed in the school concerts. As a composer, Kevin has become an ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer Awards finalist twice, in 2013 and 2016. He has also won first place in the Junior Southern Division of MNTA for Composition, and advanced to the MNTA Composition Competition national finals in 2015. In 2016, he also won second place in the Neva Greenwood Memorial Student Composition Competition of the Washington Friday Music Club. In addition, he has won first prize in the WMTA Young Composers Competition Senior Level in 2015 and 2016, first prize in the NVMTA Alma Grayce Miller Senior Composition Competition in 2015, and first prize in the MSMTA Young Composer Competition Junior level in 2013. He is also honored in the Nextnotes, the Golden Key Piano Composition, and the Southern Division of the MNTA Senior Composition Competition in 2016.

Kevin started to learn piano at the age of four, and has won awards in local, state, and international piano competitions. He has performed at the Kennedy Center, Alden Theater, DeCaprio Theater, Carnegie Hall, the Department of State in Washington DC., and Ehrbar Hall in Vienna, Austria. Furthermore, Kevin attended the Brevard Composition Program, and was accepted by the Tanglewood Piano Program in 2016. In addition, Kevin is a founder of the American Music Circle of Youth, which strives to make a difference in communities by holding community concerts and services. He also serves as an accompanist for school concerts and the school pit orchestra.
