benheadshotfullBenjamin P. Snoek, of Holland, Michigan, has won the orchestral category for the Azusa Pacific University/J.W.Pepper High School Composition Contest, with his composition Ridgefinder.

A high school senior at West Ottawa High School, Mr. Snoek is the principal string bassist in the West Ottawa High School Chamber Orchestra. He was a winner of the Michigan Music Education Association (MMEA) Honors Composition Contest, and the runner-up of the ArtPrize youth art competition (ArtStart) in the time-based category. He has several compositions for string orchestra published by Wingert-Jones Publications.

He attends Calvary Christian Reformed Church and is deeply engaged in its worship arts ministry. He plays electric bass and keys, and serves as the conductor of the church orchestra.

Each of the 2016 winners receives a $1000 cash prize, a recorded live performance by an Azusa Pacific University ensemble or performer, consideration for publication by J.W.Pepper, and a 1 year membership in J.W.Pepper’s My Score™ service.
